I used this product to write a book with my granddaughter. We entitled it "Grandma and Me". We were able to use pictures both illustrations and photos and then used the area provided to write captions. We now have a durable product that will be kept in her library for years to come. As an educator I value this product that can provide a vehicle for creativity, literacy and intimacy between adult and child. Great product. Kathy

I bought this for my 5.5 year old who is half way through kindergarten. She loves to make books (drawing pictures and writing about them) so I thought a hard cover pop up book about HER would be perfect. She does love the book, however, if you're looking for a book where your child is doing writing, this is not the book for you. I assumed that there would be areas for my child to read and fill in and WRITE about herself but that is not really the case. The first two pages are like this - it asks her name, nickname, age, hair color, birthday, etc - but the rest of the book doesn't require the child to do any other writing, it just requires the child to draw pictures about the given topic (family, home, etc). She still loves it and it's cute but it does not require writing (except for the first 2 pages) so the child's not really making a book, but drawing in one.
The books comes with markers and stickers and spirals to make pop ups so it is a fun activity.
overall I would purchase again but I wanted to let other buyers know that it's not really a book making / writing activity since it's mainly focused on drawing pictures.

I am very impressed with this set. First of all, Shrinky Dinks are just as awesome as I remember them being 25 years ago. Although they are even more fun now, playing with them with your own kids and watching my 3 year old looking through the window of the oven as they begin to shrink. We played with them together for almost 2 hours!!! The kit comes with everything, right down to the hole puncher needed to make the dinks into necklaces etc. Everything is right there. Super great Kid. Worth the money and will provide hours of fun!
